Joy Behar loves nothing more than bashing President Donald Trump every day on her liberal ABC talk show “The View.” This week, however, she took her hatred for the president way too far when she compared him to Iran’s ayatollahs, but her cohost Meghan McCain wasn’t about to let her get away with it.
The Daily Caller reported that Behar made the comment during a panel discussion in which co-host Ana Navarro said people needed to pay attention to the protests going on in Iran right now and show solidarity with the people rising up against oppression.
“To me right now we really have to keep our focus on Iran because if somehow they’re able to get themselves free from these chains that bind them from this autocratic regime, it would be a huge game changer the world over,” Navarro explained.
“I think that’s true in this country also, if we can get away from him [Trump],” Behar interjected, unsurprisingly trying to make this all about Trump.
“And they talked about the me too movement,” Sunny Hostin shared. “What was so interesting is the movement that you’ve seen here across the United States by women, the women in Iran are saying I want my freedom too. and I just think that is so powerful, so powerful.”
It was then that McCain decided she couldn’t take this nonsense anymore.<>
“I just think having any kind of conversation about moral relativism in a country where we couldn’t be sitting here without our heads covered, where gay people are literally murdered and stoned to death in the same streets and comparing it somehow to what’s going on in the United States of America,” McCain responded. “For me, when we somehow compare the United States to Iran, that’s where I end conversations and where I just leave because I think it’s ridiculous.”
“We’re not comparing it,” Behar fired back.
“You just said we need to rise up against Trump in the same way that the Ayatollah Khomeni is somehow morally relative to Trump, I think that’s crazy,” McCain continued.
“It’s not apples to apples, it’s not equal, but we’re on a slippery slope in this country towards throwing democracy out of the window every single day,” Behar said.
“We have to defend the press and civil rights here,” Navarro jumped in.
“But we don’t stone people in the street for being gay,” McCain reminded them.
“Not yet, they’re completely different things,” Navaro said. “I agree with you. I think the ayatollah is in a completely different league, but that doesn’t mean, that being said, that doesn’t mean we don’t stand up for our own rights.”
Liberals love to vilify Trump while ignoring the fact that Islamic nations are oppressive against women and homosexuals. Comparing Trump to Iran’s ayatollahs was a new low, even for Behar!
